Skills & Expertise
A brief overview of my work experience and goals for this site.
In a Nutshell
I help mission-driven organizations untangle complex systems and build cooperation across silos, using a mix of Agile project management and pragmatic technology choices.
In recent years I’ve taken the opportunity to deliberately grow my skill-set in Agile project management and technical problem-solving. I earned my Professional Scrum Master certification, built out Python and data visualization skills through a project focused on APIs and large datasets. Most recently I developed an MVP-grade Kanban Board application focused on task flow and enabling progress on multiple concurrent projects.
This site is where I share what I’m learning from these projects, give insight into the decision-making frameworks that guide me, analysis of trade-offs, and reflections on building and refining real systems in public.
Highlights of My Journey
- Resilience & Leadership: Guided a team through an unplanned shift to remote operations, maintaining 100% retention and service quality for over two years.
- Program & Portfolio Oversight: Maintained a comprehensive regional/statewide information and referral database of community impact organizations, connecting the public and agency staff with local resources. Managed 5-8 annual projects to strengthen and expand the database, balancing scope, schedules, and diverse stakeholder needs.
- Knowledge & Documentation Systems: Enabled timely staff and volunteer onboarding and continued professional growth through the creation and maintenance of 50+ technical/procedural documents, along with focused training as needed.
- Quality Control: Ensured the referral database met and exceeded national accreditation standards by implementing comprehensive quality assurance processes, from initial training and ongoing documentation, through regular audits and feedback loops.
- Data & Reporting: Improved leadership decision-making by creating Excel-based reporting systems to track grant deliverables, project milestones, and data-quality metrics.
- Collaboration & Trust-Building: Built transparency and engagement in a statewide database committee, aligning the work of seven local offices and multiple partner agencies through regular meetings and clear communications.
- Resource Analysis and Advocacy: Strengthened departmental resilience by analyzing workload vs. capacity, advocating for and securing cross-training and additional staff to address a critical shortfall.
- Technical Growth: Designed and built a Python + QML/QtQuick Kanban board application focused on task flow and organizing parallel projects; earlier PyQt6 project integrating public APIs, data manipulation, and reporting.

My Goals For This Site
Here I will share experiences from working on public projects, with a focus on broadly-applicable, actionable, takeaways. I’ll synthesize technical, procedural, and sustainability concerns - these are foundational to my approach and vital to achieving high-quality outcomes.
What you’ll find here:
- Technical and Professional Insights: my experience and thought process on designing workflows, managing projects, and effective leadership - especially in remote environments.
- Exploration and Perspectives: I will explore ideas and projects I consider valuable, and explain the how and why of my approach. I will also cover broader topics of technology, leadership, and sustainability - and how each impacts professional life.
My goal is to make this space a useful resource for anyone who values continuous learning and practical solutions.
I’d love to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, or discuss practical approaches to complex work - so feel free to reach out!
